Women might call this a “purse” but really it’s a change bag. Measuring at 2.5″ x 2.5″ closed, I keep this secured on my (awesome brown canvas and leather) backpack because it’s just plain convenient. So it’s a “little bag”.
This little bag has a very unique design. The front closure flap keeps the bag closed even when it’s dropped, inverted or kicked by an irritated camel. The drawstring can be knotted for extra security and looped to attach just about anywhere. After opening the from flap, the bag pulls open to a relatively cavernous 16 square inches to hold your coins, flash drives, SD cards, microfiche fragments, nuclear fuel rod fragments, or whatever you want to stow. The mechanism is simple, unique and fun. I have to admit I’ve spent several hours just playing with the drawstring closure. It’s so cool when the string is pulled and the bag comes together.
This little bag is made from vegetable tanned leather sourced from right here in Jinja, Uganda. No machines are used in the creation of this unique bag. The bag is hand stitched using brown wax NylTex, some of the strongest and longest-lasting multi-strand thread in the leather industry. The stitching technique is called “saddle stitch” which is the strongest stitch available, reserved for horse saddles and the stuff that takes the hardest beating. The leather edges are all beveled and burnished to ensure a smooth, tough, durable edge.
The side linings are made from goatskin which is extremely soft, pliable and durable.
Although it’s designed with strength in mind, we think you’ll agree that these bags are also quite cool looking. It’s hard to believe something so good looking can be so darn tough.
The entire process, from cutting to tooling to dying to finishing is done by hand ensuring the highest quality and durability. Although we are still new to the trade, we take great pride in providing high quality and expert craftsmanship with every piece we create.
