Most of you know the story of Zack Matere, the Kenyan potato farmer mad famous by Google. After seeing the video, and meeting with Zack, we realized he had so much energy and drive to learn about tech, but he didn’t know where to begin. We donated a Loaded Chromebook, several RACHEL-loaded TP-Link routers, several RACHEL-loaded SD cards, training and more to see exactly what he would do if he was given the gear. We’re excited to see he’s really become a tech evangelist!

The following are from a meeting of senior citizen farmers at the Likuyani constituency office. Zack says they, “are surrounded by technology and are implementing a world bank project. We intend to use chromecast to enable Rachel be accessed on the flatscreen.” Did you hear that? “Chromecast” from a potato farmer! Wow, Zack! :-D

Again, here is Zack doing another demo with “millet farmer Wanjala”.. A Chromebook demo in the middle of a millet field! We love that Zack is leveraging technology for his friends, neighbors and peers. This shows great initiative, and we;re excited that we’re finally starting to see tech training applied to “non-tech” fields and improving the lives of people all over the world. This is exactly what our education initiative is all about.
